Weddings!

Over the last few months I have attended numerous wedding fairs as a professional bridal make up artist. They are the ideal places for anyone involved in the industry to advertise their services but also to network with other businesses. I attended these fairs partnered with my friend Rachel Smurthwaite, she owns a bridal dress shop: Forever Bridal Boutique at Willerby Manor.

Upon arrival it's first things first. Me and Rachel set up our beautiful table displaying her dresses and my make up. The rest of the day we spent speaking to numerous brides, mothers of the bride, bridesmaids and grooms about their upcoming big days. It was great to see a variety of brides-to-be from the recently engaged to getting married in a few months and checking for last bits.

At the fairs you can find everything you need for your big day including venues, caterers, cakes, photographers, entertainer, flowers, suits, dresses, the list is endless! I really enjoyed meeting the other business owners too and it is always nice to make new contacts encase I ever get asked to make any recommendations to clients or friends. You also get used to seeing familiar faces too as some businesses will attend all events in the Wedding industry circuit.

The most exciting Wedding Fair we did was at the Mercure Royal Station Hotel. Rachel was showcasing her beautiful bride and bridesmaid dresses on the Catwalk. Make up artist Samantha Ward and I did the models make up using all Arbonne International Cosmetics. Here is a short video I made from the day:

Top Professional Bridal Make Up Artist Tips:

  1. Research your make up artist. You are looking for quality previous work, wedding experience and high quality cosmetics.

  2. Book an artist with experience and knowledge of photography make up. Bridal make up is a balance of beauty make up and photographic make up. This will probably be the most photographed day of your life and remember those photos will be there forever.

  3. Book a trial. You would not try your dress on for the first time on the morning of your wedding so don’t do it with your hair and make up. It will put you at ease to know how it is all going to look in advance.

Overall the wedding fairs were not just fun but a huge success. It is a very exciting time for couples and their families, it was wonderful to be part of it. I met many beautiful brides to be with their lucky grooms and fantastic families as well as all the other lovely business owners too. Top tip for exhibiting at Wedding Fairs- Be near the cake stand ;)
